BTS is a seven-member South Korean group formed under Big Hit Entertainment in 2010. BTS was originally the short form for 'Bangtan Sonyeondan' (Hangul: 방탄소년단) which translates to 'Bulletproof Boy Scouts' before they added a new identity to it in July 2017, Beyond The Scene. Both acronyms are accurate. They debuted on the 13th of June, 2013 with 'No More Dream' from their debut album, 2Cool4Skool.

Originally starting out as a hip-hop group, BTS branched out to various genres as they progressed, eventually creating an incredibly versatile discography for lovers of almost every genre.

BTS consists of seven members of equal importance and value. There are four vocalists and three rappers. The leader of the group is RM.

The fans of the group are called ARMY, which is an acronym for 'Adorable Representative MC for Youth'. They were given this name on the 9th of July, 2013, less than a month after BTS' debut. ARMY Day is celebrated on this day every year.

Similarly, the rap line refers to the three rappers, whereas the vocal line refers to the four vocalists of the group.

CONNECT WITH BTS!

BTS have one of the largest presences (if not the largest) on the internet. They frequently share updates with their fans and interact with them depending on the platform.

On Twitter, they have two accounts - @BTS_twt and @bts_bighit. BTS_twt is their personal account which all the members update personally (and frequently), while the other is the company account managed by staff. On the personal account, BTS share selfies, messages to ARMY, and personal content, whereas comeback related content and official releases are usually shared on bts_bighit.

BTS do not have a personal Instagram account, only an official one that is managed by staff. It is used to post rehearsal stories, concept photos, and other official pictures.

Weverse is a social platform created by Big Hit for interactions between their artists and their fans. BTS are active on Weverse as well and they often post letters, selfies, daily accounts, stories, and even reply to ARMY posts!

BTS are on two YouTube channels - the company's channel, Big Hit Labels, is where all of the official releases such as music videos (MVs) are uploaded. The other channel, BANGTANTV, is where they host their YouTube lives, upload their logs, and share Bangtan Bombs and BTS Episodes (special clips of BTS during their schedules, such as photoshoots, backstage moments, etc).

They are also available on VLive, the Korean idol broadcasting platform (and are the most subscribed channel!) where they often host live broadcasts and podcasts.

Fancafe is a platform where Korean idols can connect with their fans. BTS occasionally post letters for ARMY on Fancafe as well.

You can also find BTS on Weibo (both personal and official accounts), Facebook, TikTok, and their official website.

BTS are most active on Twitter and Weverse. None of the members have a solo account - they all share the same profile on all platforms.

TIPS AND ADVICE FOR YOU AS A NEW ARMY;

As you progress more into the fandom, you will learn and discover new things - and definitely enjoy the experience along the way!

There are a few things that you may keep in mind when you first decide to stan just so you can have the best experience.

#1: Please do not make judgements on the members' characters based on YouTube 'introduction' videos only. They often have exaggerated stereotypes of the members and contain a lot of misinformation. Instead, take your time to understand the members yourself.

#2: There are a lot of fake facts, news, and information on every platform, but especially Twitter and YouTube. It may seem obvious, but it is quite easy to forget; please do not believe everything you see. Only trust and spread information from 100% trusted sources - the rest, take with a grain of salt.

#3: Please do not feel embarrassed or ashamed to ask questions - all fans were new at some point! There are many ARMYs that are ready to help new fans with their doubts. However, remember rule #2 - make sure your sources are trustworthy.

#4: Do not hate on any member! It's okay to have a bias, but please make sure that you appreciate all members. They're all special in their own way, and 7-1=0.

#5: And the most important tip is to ENJOY! Stanning Bangtan is not a chore - it's a fun filled journey of growth, reflection, and much more. Do not feel pressured by anything - enjoy your music and content in peace!
